Why it is worth having

Google Shows Three Businesses Above Everything Else

Search your trade on your phone and a map comes up first, with three businesses in a box. This page is about that box. Everything underneath is the SEO plan, a different job.

What you actually get

A Profile That Is Actually Finished

Your Google Business Profile is the listing that puts you on that map, with your hours, services, photos and reviews on it. Most contractors claimed theirs once and never went back. One category, no services, old photos.

Google says businesses with complete and accurate information are more likely to show up in local results. So we treat the profile as a weekly job, not a setup task.

Categories picked on purpose. Every service listed. Service areas set to where your van goes. Holiday hours before the holiday. Photos on a schedule, and questions answered.

Why it works

What Google Says It Actually Ranks On

Google ranks local results on three things, relevance, distance and prominence (Google Business Profile Help). It doesn't publish the weighting, so anybody showing you a pie chart made the numbers up. Distance nobody can change.

Whitespark's 2026 survey put your primary category first of every ranking factor, though that's 47 practitioners giving an opinion and not a Google number. CallRail attributed 32% of small business sales appointments to Google Business Profile.

Relevance and prominence are the parts profile work reaches, so that's where the weekly job goes.

How long until it works

The Fixes Are Fast. The Ranking Is Not.

The accuracy work is done in the first week or two, and you can check all of it on your own phone.

Ranking is months, and it's never one answer. You can be in the three from one side of town and missing from the other, because the map changes with where the searcher stands. So we check a grid of points across your area.

Anybody showing you one screenshot of a number one is showing you one street corner.

What it costs you

One Handover And Then Photographs

The only part that needs you is access. You add us as a manager on the profile, about a minute's work, and you stay the owner. Remove us whenever you like.

Then photos. Phone pictures of finished jobs, taken before you drive away. Real work photographed by you beats anything we can do, because you're standing in front of the job and we're not.

Worth knowing

What This Does Not Do

It does not get you reviews. Google states that more reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking (Google Business Profile Help). Asking your customers is the review engine.

We do not promise a ranking or a place in the three. Distance is one of the three things Google names, and no profile work moves your van closer to somebody's house.

We need manager access on the profile, and you keep ownership. If an old agency holds your listing you reclaim it through Google first. If a profile is suspended we prepare the appeal.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is local SEO?
Local SEO is the work of getting a business into the map results Google shows for local searches, the box of three above the ordinary web results. It centres on the Google Business Profile, the categories, services, areas, hours, photos and reviews Google reads there. Google ranks these on relevance, distance and prominence. It's a different job from your website.
What is the Google map pack and why is my business not in it?
The map pack is the group of three businesses Google shows on a map above the regular results. There are only three places in it, so most businesses in a town aren't there. The usual reasons are an incomplete profile, the wrong primary category, no recent reviews, or distance, since the pack changes with where the searcher stands.
What is the right primary category for my trade?
You get one primary category and it carries more weight than anything else on the profile. Whitespark's 2026 survey of local search practitioners put it first of every ranking factor. That's an opinion poll, not a Google number. Pick the category that names your trade. Roofers take Roofing contractor, not General contractor. Everything else goes in as an additional category.
How do I claim, verify or get back a Google Business Profile?
Claiming is a request against the listing Google already holds for your business. Verification is Google proving you're really there, usually now by video, filming your van, your signage and your paperwork in one unbroken take. If an old agency still holds the listing, you request access, Google emails them, and if they ignore it you can claim it yourself.
Do I need a physical address to rank on Google Maps?
No. You need an address to verify the business with Google, but not premises a customer can visit. A service area business hides its address and lists the areas it travels to instead. That's how most contractors should be set up. Don't register an address in a town you want to rank in, because a false location is grounds for suspension.
